In Georgia, the payroll cycle typically follows a monthly schedule, with salary payments issued on a consistent day each month, no later than the final working day of that month.

Overtime Pay
Any work conducted beyond the standard weekly working hours qualifies as overtime, the specifics of which are governed by employment contracts or collective agreements. There are established limits on the amount of overtime an employee can work, particularly when it involves working on holidays, with the cap set at 48 hours per week. Separate maximum working hour restrictions are in place for underage workers.
Compensation for overtime that exceeds 48 hours a week is set at 150.00% of the employee's standard salary rate.
Paid Leave
Full-time employees are entitled to 24 working days of annual leave each year.
Those employed in hazardous positions may qualify for an extra 10 paid calendar days off annually.
After completing 11 months of continuous service with the same employer, employees become eligible for an additional 15 days of unpaid holiday leave.
If taking all entitled leave within the current year is assessed to adversely affect business operations, employees are allowed to carry over unused leave days into the following year, but this cannot extend beyond two consecutive years. Employee agreement is required before implementing such carryovers.
Sick Leave
Employers are required to continue regular salary payments in cases of temporary incapacity for up to 40 continuous calendar days, or for a total incapacity not exceeding 60 calendar days within a 6-month span.
To qualify for these payments during leave, employees must provide a sickness certificate from an authorized medical professional starting from the first day of absence.
Public and Provincial Holidays
Notice Period
Both employer and employee are obligated to provide a 30-day calendar notice for termination. During the probation period, however, no notice is mandated.
Any notice given must be documented in writing.
13th Month Bonus
In Georgia, there's no legal obligation for a 13th-month salary. Nonetheless, employers have the latitude to award bonuses as they see fit.
