Required skills:

Must Have

  • 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer in a production Linux environment (per JD). On the call, the Client indicated a preference for 6+ years for this specific opening, with flexibility for an exceptionally strong candidate (treat 5 years as a hard floor and 6+ as the practical target)
  • Hands-on containers and Kubernetes - the call was explicit this must go beyond basic exposure: real, in-depth experience standing up and operating clusters, not just "having touched a button in Kubernetes."
  • Good understanding of distributed and data systems; experience with large-scale, heavy data loads specifically (Spark, Hadoop, Vertica, Flink were named on the call as reference technologies for this team's stack).
  • Good Python scripting experience.
  • Hands-on with at least one cloud platform. AWS is strongly preferred since it's what Nexxen mostly runs on; Azure/Microsoft-stack backgrounds are explicitly less relevant to this team.
  • Version control and CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitLab or GitHub) - called a must on both the JD and the call.
  • Production experience specifically, not only test/staging environments.
  • Strong English communication, team player, independent.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to data warehouses/lakes and processing frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Trino) across batch and/or streaming workloads.
  • GitOps tooling (ArgoCD / Flux).
  • Administering at least one NoSQL database (Redis, Elasticsearch, or MongoDB).
  • Background as a data engineer or software engineer with an infrastructure slant.
  • Ability to build tools for the engineering team, i.e. coming from a development background rather than only writing scripts — called a "big advantage" on the call, explicitly not a must.

Scope of work:

  • Building, operating, and scaling containerized data infrastructure on Kubernetes and/or Linux, including engines like Spark, across batch and streaming workloads.
  • Writing automation and tooling in Python.
  • Improving reliability, observability, and performance across distributed systems.
  • Working on production systems supporting heavy data loads, in close collaboration with the data engineering teams.
